Things to consider when you are choosing a place to stay in Madrid
Relaxing or noisy
One of the things you have to consider is: if you want to live in a relaxed/quiet or more noisy neighborhood. Madrid is a busy city. Especially in the center. It’s always nice there, but also a bit more expensive. Living close to the city center is for many reasons beneficial. A couple examples are: everything is close by, different shops, many restaurants, and places to go out. If you prefer to stay in a quieter and often cheaper area, it’s best to stay far from the city or maybe even slightly outside of Madrid.
There are many people who study in Madrid. Most of them stay in student houses, that is often the cheapest option. If you prefer to live with fewer people, or even alone. It is not only going to be more expensive, but it is also more difficult to find an apartment. If you live in a student house, you often have to take other students into account. For example: The mess that comes with it, sharing a bathroom and a kitchen, getting other people to visit, someone who wakes up earlier or stays up later than you, etc. But when you live alone it is often less pleasant, and it can be a bit more dangerous.
School or internship
If you are in Madrid for school or an internship, it is of course very nice to stay close to your school or internship. So, you do not have to travel very long. Fortunately, metros in Madrid are very accessible and easy to travel with. They are also very cheap. Apart from the metros, Madrid also has buses and trains for longer distances.
