Study Permit Renewal Processing

The annual Study Permit Renewal is also available to family members of non-EU citizens residing in Spain for study, research, mobility programs, non-work placements or volunteer work. In these cases, the application must also cover the renewal of both the visa and, if the stay extends beyond six months, the TIE card.

Documentation required at checkout

• Passport
• Proof of enrolment confirming that you are continuing the same academic program
• Valid private medical insurance that is fully comprehensive and includes repatriation coverage, either renewed or extended as needed. If you don’t have it, you can contract it here under the most advantageous conditions.

Important warning: If you are starting a new study program, switching to a different academic institution, or moving to another province in Spain, you cannot apply for a renewal. In those cases, you must apply for a new Study Permit. To do so, you will need to present a new enrolment certificate and proof of completion of your previous studies, such as a diploma or certificate. Please note that the application for a new permit must be submitted within 60 days before the expiration of your current TIE.
